In a major coordinated effort to prevent future outbreaks, health ministries across five Southeast Asian nations have signed a memorandum of understanding to share real-time epidemiological data.

The "One Health" initiative recognizes the deep interconnection between human health, animal health, and the environment. Since Nipah is zoonotic, monitoring the animal population—specifically Pteropus bats and pigs—is as crucial as monitoring human symptoms.

As part of this expansion, 15 new mobile diagnostics labs have been deployed to rural areas that were previously considered "surveillance blind spots." These units are equipped to perform PCR testing on the spot, reducing result turnaround time from 4 days to 4 hours.

The success of the network relies heavily on local farmers and villagers. A new SMS-based reporting system allows community leaders to anonymously report unusual livestock deaths, triggering an immediate investigation by veterinary sanitation teams.
